Bedeutung der Spalten


Helligkeitsentwicklung bei Kometen

Die Helligkeit der meisten Kometen entwickelt sich nach der Standardformel:
m = M0 + 5×log (delta) + 2.5×n×log r.

In manchen Fällen (erkennbar in der Tabelle an Werten n < 0.5) zeigt der Komet aber eine Zeitabhängigkeit gemäß:
m = M0 + 5×log (delta) + n×(t-T)

dabei ist:
delta = Distanz Komet - Erde
r = Distanz Komet - Sonne
t = Beobachtungszeitpunkt
T = Perihelzeitpunkt

Bei der Mehrzahl der Kometen kann die Helligkeitsentwicklung mit nur einem Parametersatz für die gesamte Sichtbarkeit bzw. mit je einem Satz für die Zeit vor und nach dem Perihel dargestellt werden.

In manchen Fällen zeigen die Kometen aber eine komplexere Entwicklung, die zwar in der jeweiligen Auswertung detailliert dargestellt ist, in dieser Tabelle aber nicht abgebildet werden kann. In diesen Fällen listen die Tabellenwerte nur die gemittelten bzw. den Zeitabschnitt überwiegend kennzeichnenden Parameterwerte vor bzw. nach dem Perihel auf. Diese können aber die tatsächlich gezeigte Entwicklung gegebenenfalls nur unvollkommen abbilden.

Als Orientierung für den Tabellennutzer kann die Spalte VoP dienen, in der ein Hinweis auf die Komplexität der Helligkeitsentwicklung vermerkt ist, sofern von mir eine Auswertung angefertigt wurde. Dabei gilt:

Auswertungen von helleren Kometen fertige ich seit 1973 an. Allerdings sind bislang nur die Auswertungen ab Mitte 1996 online verfügbar. Langfristig plane ich jedoch, frühere Auswertungen ebenfalls online zur Verfügung zu stellen.
