Analysis of past comet apparitions

62P/Tsuchinshan 1

1998

The few observations published for comet 62P/Tsuchinshan 1 so far, indicate a different brightness evolution before and after perihelion. Prior to perihelion the formula

m = 10.8m + 5×log D + 0.055×|t-T|

simulates the observations best, thereafter the formula

m = 11.1m + 5×log D + 0.006×|t-T|

works better. This results, however, are preliminary. The maximum coma diameter reached 1.2', the absolute coma diameter increased from 75.000 km to 100.000 km.
