The analysis of 55 estimates of comet 104P/Kowal 2 yield the following formula for the brightness behavior (yielding a maximum brightness of 12.5 mag at the start of February 1998):
While the comet was already fading, the coma reached its maximum of 1.5' (110.000 km) in March, remaining very diffuse (DC 2), however.
